Andy knows this rainforest intimately. His knowledge of the local flora and fauna is amazing. He also has an eagle eye and spots animals that you would never see otherwise. He is extremely friendly and helpful and is one the best tour guides that we have ever had!

Andy is a talented and extremely educated guide that makes your hikes in the rain forest super fun! He has been voted one of the top guides for our retreats year after year!

Pollo, our surf instructor, is the very best! He was also born and raised here in Cabo Matapalo and he knows his stuff! It is so exhilarating to watch these ladies get up on the board for the very first time!

Travel Insurance and Covid-19

Pre-flight Testing Requirement for Entry to The United States

On Jan 12, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control in the United States issued an order effective January 26, 2021 requiring all incoming airline passengers to the United States to provide documentation (paper or electronic) of a negative COVID-19 test.

  • The test must be administered within 3 calendar days prior to the flight’s departure;

  • The order applies to all passengers 2 years of age and older;

  • The test must be a viral test;

Alternatively, travelers may provide documentation of a prior COVID-19 infection along with a letter from a health professional clearing them for travel. The date of the infection must be within 90 days of the flight’s departure.

If you have specific questions not addressed here, you can review the CDC FAQ or check with your airline. Airlines are charged with enforcing the order, and there may be some variability in procedures and implementation.

Travelers to destinations other than the United States may also have testing requirements, and guests are encouraged to review those requirements with their airline. Your concierge will assist you with the testing requirements regardless of your destination.

Quarantine requirements are evolving as health authorities cope with new variants and rising infection rates. Your return destination might have mandatory or recommended requirements. As authorities make these decisions, we will update the information we share here. There is no federal mandatory quarantine when entering the US right now.

These are the most current requirements. They could change or be eliminated at any time;

Due to the remote area where we are traveling, the Covid test will need to be administered in San Jose, Costa Rica at your hotel.

In addition, you will need to purchase travel/medical evacuation insurance. You will need to send me proof of insurance, and print a copy to bring with you on the trip with the international phone number.

**All Covid-19 testing and travel/medical insurance will be at your own expense.

Your Wellness Adventures, Inc. tour will start in the Osa Peninsula on January 15th, 2022. You will be flying into San Jose International Airport on January 15th and staying one night in San Jose. We will help you with the information you will need to arrange your domestic flight from San Jose to Pt. Jimenez and back.

Please Note

You need a U.S. passport to travel to Costa Rica (no visa required). Be sure it is valid at least 6 months AFTER your return or they will not allow you to travel to Costa Rica! You can call the Costa Rican Consulate at (202) 328-6628 from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, EST with any official questions. You can also try the Costa Rican Tourist Board at 800-343-6332, www.costarica.com, although the Consulate has the final word.

You will also need to check with your doctor and the CDC to see if there are any recommended vaccinations.

January is the Costa Rican summer and is generally drier,  temperatures in the low 70's and highs in the low 90's, giving plenty of sun filled days on the beach, and calmer waters for kayaking, surfing, swimming, and fishing. This gives you a general idea but, of course we are talking about weather, so it is subject to change.
